2008年12月12-14日，由四川大学美国研究中心、美国美中教育交流基金会、四川大学外国语学院联合举办的“全球化时代的美国” 国际学术研讨在成都举行。中心主任梅仁毅教授、李莉文副教授与博士生杨强、孔祥永及访问学者陈志杰博士参加了此次盛会。梅教授做了题为Hopes and Fears－Characteristics of Mutual Perceptions of Americans and Chinese in a Globalizing World的主旨发言。 李莉文副教授在会上宣读了自己的论文Why TPA and Pro-Trade Majority in Congress are Lost。杨强、孔祥永、陈志杰论文的题目分别为Challenges and Way Out: The Fading American Culture in the Eyes of the Conservatives；Rethinking on Latin America’s Left Turn and U.S. Foreign Policy in Latin America；From a National to an International Perspective: The Development of Martin Luther King’s Philosophy of Nonviolence。
